What college majors and minors are useful for this career?
Political Science and or Sicology are both great majors for this career.They will help you later in law school.Law schools
do not usually look at your major but they do reguire a bachelors degree in any area.It would be smart to choose a major somewhat
relating to Law.Some colleges like Wright State doesn't have a Pre- Law major offered so I'm personally am a political science
major.
What is the typical career path for individuals in this field?
Well first students in law school in many cases are required to get a internship in a law firm.If the student plays their
cards right and stays with that law firm all through law school and gets pretty good grades they may be offered a position
at that law firm.By being an intern that gives them a chance to get their foot in the door.After a few years of hard work
and dedication at one law firm lawyers tend to make partner.This means they are big dogs in the firm and win usually 60-100%
of thier cases.
What are the odds of success in this field? How difficult is it to find a position?
It depends on the person and if their dedicated. Law is very difficult career but some people has what it takes and some
dont.There will always be a demand for Lawyers but there is many different types of Lawyers and the demand varys with each
type.
What type of money can you expect to earn starting out?
Most people go into law because of the money most lawyers are payed based on wiether or not they win a case or
by hour.Starting out lawyers can be paid anywere from $1,500 and up and take a case and then $50-$200 per hour there after
and so on and if more charges apply if the layer must travel for research or court,so it depends on the lawer and the firm.
Where are the jobs?
There will always be a demand for lawers this will notr be at all. People get into things that they need help
getting out of.Remember there are many types of lawyers defence lawyers ,divorce attorneys,buisness lawyers and so many more.In
smaller towns there seems to be higher demands for lawyers than in lager towns.If fact they seem to pay more for lawyers in
the smaller towns because there are alread pleanty in the larger towns.
What extra curricular activities can make you more marketable to employer ? Well you could do internship at the local
court house and for law firms and local law offices.You could join the school debate team,arguing issues is a great quality
to have for future lawyers.
